The Japan Foundation’s Special Lectures for Nihongo Teachers: “An Introduction to Japanese Language Education” (Sept. 22, 2007 - Jan. 26, 2008)
The Japan Foundation, Manila in its continuing effort for professional enrichment of Filipino Nihongo Teachers (development and advancement of Japanese-language skills and teaching methodology) and in general, for the further encouragement of Japanese Language Education in the Philippines will hold a chair of Japanese Language Education under the title “An Introduction to Japanese Language Education”.
This special series of 15 lectures for Nihongo teachers aims to equip the participants with basic knowledge on Japanese Linguistics, Methodology of Teaching Japanese and/or Course Planning, as well as the Most Recent Global Issues regarding Language Teaching; it will also assist in discovering a possible topic for future research in the hope of encouraging more Filipino Nihongo teachers to apply for the Japan Foundation’s MA Program as well as other grants for study/research/training programs for non-native Nihongo teachers.

The chair is now open for application to Nihongo teachers (have taught or currently teaching) and also to aspiring Nihongo educators, future specialists in this field ; it covers 45 hours and costs P4,500.00 inclusive of all materials. It will be held every Saturday (9:30 a.m. – 12:30 pm) from Sept. 22, 2007 to Jan. 26, 2008 (observance of Christmas Break from Dec.16 to Jan.5) at the Japan Foundation, Manila.
The application must be done by the submission of the duly accomplished application form (in Japanese) accompanied with the applicant’s curriculum vitae (in English). Deadline for the application is Wednesday, Sept.12 and results of the preliminary screening (based on the dossiers) will be announced to the applicants. Applicants must have Nihongo ability of JLPT Level 2 equivalent ( or almost ) - Level 2 Certificate is not mandatory. Final screening (written test and interview) will be taken by appointment between Friday, Sept. 14 and Saturday, Sept. 15.
