Huge pillars of fire, kagaya ng redrocks sa denver (U2 concert). Tapos ampitheater. Tapos susunugin yung venue. LOLZ
may disco after the show
may free drinks tulad ng iced tea or sopdrinks or juice or tubig sa mga non-alcoholic drinkers at sa mga underage kasi unfair naman pare-pareho bayad tapos wala silang drink
yung auction portion okay naman eh…astig yun pero sana one item lang muna at a time tapos back to the show….mejo nakain yung time para sa cosplay…i dunno….pansin ko lang.
sana dumami pa ang jpop performances in the future…
yun lang naman po…
maraming maraming salamat..
okay—since this reply pretty much summed up what other people have been suggesting so far (which is nothing we haven’t considered, really), i’ll try to address every single one and maybe you guys will have an idea on why these weren’t integrated in the latest gig, or any of the previous OS gigs so far…

suggestions?
heto po…
mas malaking venue
renting a larger venue requires a rather large sum of money, money that OS does not have since we are—first and foremost, a non-profit organization, and second of all, we do not ask OS members to pay membership fees (which we can use to lease a larger venue to hold an event) to belong to the organization. sponsorship money can only go so far, with many sponsors opting for x-deals rather than paying cash up-front (not that there’s anything wrong with that) so we really have very little to work with fund-wise. thank god though that that’s never stopped us from holding kick-ass gigs, so far—right?

seating and other amenities are provided by the venue; we have no control over their quality since the venue also has to work within their means. as venue leasers, we either have the choice to use them, or make everyone sit on the floor. seeing as it would’ve been preferable to most people to sit on stools without backs rather than on the floor (until seating eventually ran out, of course), it was the better choice, don’t you think?

sana open area kaya para may hangin…whatcha think?
open-air venues pose a high security risk that the organizers dare not tackle until we know that we are properly equipped to deal with them. until we find enough cash to rent temporary fencing and metal scaffolding, and hire proper bouncers, and other stuff we need to succesfully control a large crowd on an outdoor venue, then we prefer holding events in enclosed venues where it’s easier and takes less people to keep things running smoothly.

there are other event s that feature karaoke competitions and you’re very welcome to join them; however ONGAKU SOCEITY gigs have and will always be about the band performances. if folks in the audience would like to get in on the act and sing onstage, they’re welcome to form a band and audition for any of the performance spots for our future gigs.

while i admit that the cosplay portion at this gig was poorly organized compared to the previous ones, please understand that we were working under a strict schedule and had to do everything we can to make sure the programme was on time (as we’ve had previous complaints that the schedule was rarely followed). sections of the programme which are not band performances are usually the first to be sacrificed, including the cosplay competition. while we will do our best to make sure that the cosplay section at the next event will be executed better and more efficiently, we would also like for everyone to understand that OS gigs are (japanese) rock gigs and not cosplay competitions, so sometimes the comfort and convenience of the cosplayers are compromised.

may disco after the show
ditto with the karaoke question. also, some bars we hold the gigs in are only equipped to deal with rock or acoustic gigs and not dance parties. unless we can find a venue that is properly outfitted with both a decent band set-up and a functioning dance floor—at a reasonable price, then for now we have to work with what we can realistically accomplish.
may free drinks tulad ng iced tea or sopdrinks or juice or tubig sa mga non-alcoholic drinkers at sa mga underage kasi unfair naman pare-pareho bayad tapos wala silang drink
the free drinks offered during the gigs are limited to what the venue can provide us with. while some venues are wiling to offer alternatives, bars—being bars, offer mostly alcoholic beverages. we’re very sorry to those who could not enjoy their free drinks but we hope you understand; after all we’ve managed to keep ticket prices to OS gigs pegged at a very low PhP 120 per person (compared to PhP 150 for some gigs) and on top of that still be able to offer your first drink on the house.

yung auction portion okay naman eh…astig yun pero sana one item lang muna at a time tapos back to the show….mejo nakain yung time para sa cosplay…i dunno….pansin ko lang.
the auctions are ideally limited to 5 minutes per item, but because of the number of bids going back and forth for many of the items on sale, the portion becomes extended indefinitely. it is therefore more logical as well as fair (especially to the bidders) if we keep going until the item is sold to the highest bidder, rather cut the auction off in the middle simply because we were out of time. we would be depriving higher bidders of the chance to challenge for their desired items, and the items will end up being sold to the latest bidder, rather than the highest.

there was a drop box (or bag, in this case) where the ticket stubs were held for the raffle; in case you failed to notice it, it was the small blue gift box carlo and sento were picking stubs out of for the raffle. everyone at the gig had an equal chance to win something; it was simply a matter of chance and statistics that some people at the event were picked twice, while some were not picked at all. as for those who showed up at the tail end of the event when we had run out of tickets, they did not have the chance to participate in the raffle. but it was explained to them clearly that they could not longer win in the raffle due to the lack of stubs, and it was up to them if they still wanted to pay for admission and be let in. we’ve had no complaints about this so far so we would like to think that these people completely understood our conditions and nevertheless chose to join us at the gig.

sana dumami pa ang jpop performances in the future…
this will depend on the number of j-pop performers who will make it through our open auditions. for ONGAKU PROJECT, we had announced open auditions as early as january, with the deadline set for the end of febraury. as many as 18 acts applied in all (with 12 of them making it to the april 29 gig), with all but 2 of them being j-rock/j-pop bands. we therefore conclude that the make-up of the performers at OS gigs—meaning j-pop groups vis-a-vis j-rock bands, is more a reflection of the actual pool of performers we have to work with for the gigs, rather than a skewed bias favoring j-rock acts over j-pop ones.

YOU ROCK!!! WOOO-HOOO!!!
i hope i’ve clarified several things about our latest gig. once again, thank you everyone for your support! also, please don’t worry because we’re taking everyone’s suggestions down for serious consideration. who knows maybe we can implement them at the next major OS gig, right?! thank you everyone and expect only better things from us—we are ONGAKU SOCIETY, never let the music die down!
