bat nga pala hindi invisionfree ung ginamit sa forums?
Well, over 500 posts in a month is pretty telling, don’t you think? ;)
Ang forums po na ginagamit natin ay completely integrated po sa website natin, kaya if you sign up on the website, automatic po ang membership mo dito. Invisionfree is strictly a forums script, it’s not a CMS, so it doesn’t have everything that we need.
Eeeh, that’s odd. Kasi kung problem yan sa MySQL server, dapat ako rin may error na lumalabas. O_O Ngayon lang ba yan? As in when you connected this morning? Or dati pa yan?
OK, the only reason that I can think of is the MySQL server is running out of connections on your end. Kasi nga if it’s a universal MySQL problem, I should also be getting that, but it seems that you’re the only one getting that error so far. Perhaps it’s because your connection (your IP) is constantly querying the database….? Anyway, I’ll ask my webhost about this as they’re more knowledgeable about these things.
Edit 1: Sorry for this edit, but can you keep a track on when this error happens? Like the next time you see this error, please tell me what time of the day you received it. My webhost wants to know more information and has asked me to tell them the time and day this error happens.
Their exact response:
Of course something like this is extremely hard to track down if its only happening to a single user. Ask the user if they can watch it, and if it happens again for them if they can track the time it happens and send it to you, so you can pass it on to us.
The server is generally running no more than 20% cpu utilization, and no other reports of issues, and the server has in no historic time reached the max database connections the server can handle. We do not limit clients to a given database connection or other limits.
I have added some tracking to see if I can see any issues develop over time, and more with your database. Just to make sure I also ran a repair on your database tables as well, just in case there might have been any errors with that specific record in that table or something.
Oh, and I’d like to ask if there’s anyone else here that’s getting the same error as Neil. Otherwise, the error is a rarity indeed.
Edit 2: Neil, I also want to know if this problem happened before we switched webhosts. Has this been happening ever since we put up the forums in April or has the problem just started when the forums were back online last week?
ok—since jill asked me to, i connected using both my T1 connection (japan servers) and wi-fi connection (manila servers) and i haven’t encountered the server errors being discussed in the thread—and i think i’m not the only one who hasn’t seen these error messages so far (although i could be wrong).
my theory is the error is caused by a slow (dial up?) connection on neil’s end, which makes the packet transfers from the mySQL servers time out. if that’s the case then there’s no realistic option for us mods to help everyone on slow connections deal with errors other than hooking you up and paying for your DSL connections, which of course isn’t going to happen anytime soon x.X;;
the best our board members can do to cope with the error is: 1) get a faster connection; or 2) log into accounts during off-peak hours :/ sorry guys—we really tried T_T
I’m not about to blame slow connections yet, but it could be a major reason. My webhost is also at a loss and, as I quoted above, they do not give connection limits to their MySQL databases. The forums also use non-persistent connections (sorry if this is too technical ;^_^), which means that the web server only connects to the MySQL server when it needs to (as opposed to persistent connections where the web server is always connected to the MySQL server and from what I understand, this could lead to connection losses).
Anyway, judging from the error message, it seems that the error happens whenever the web server tries querying the database for your IP address. Since this is a rare issue, it’s really hard to pin down the exact cause. Again, just tell me when you receive this message (and if the error message is the same each time). I’ll forward it to my webhost and hopefully, they’ll be able to determine if it’s really a server-side problem or not.

on rare occasions, mornings (around 9AM);
mostly, during: off peaks (around 2AM - 4AM), and around 6PM-8PM~~
the error message shows occasionally, during “Post Reply” or Quoting other’s post.

yah, only saw that error message since the forums were up again.
well… thanks, anyway~~
not much serious problem, actually;
even such error message shows up, I can still make posts (even in fast reply)
