Ongaku Fusion: Two Countries, One Vibe

Ongaku Fusion marks OngakuSociety's fifth major gig and as usual -- we bring you fabulous Japanese Music with a twist! As a nod to the 50th Anniversary of Philippine-Japan Friendship, OngakuSociety fused Japanese and Filipino rock influences to come up with a slamming gig sure to have pleased music fans from either side of the ocean.

In one of our biggest gigs yet, OngakuSociety -- with the generous support of TOEI Animation Philippines, Level Up Games, HERO TV, Ginebra San Miguel, HD5, UP AME, and the Japan Foundation Manila, brought together fourteen of the Metro's hottest J-music acts for a serving of the latest Japanese pop music plus classic Pinoy rock singles. Fans made tracks for Ahoy There! on Timog Avenue, Quezon City where they snagged great freebies, won amazing prizes, and rocked out to outstanding Japanese and Pinoy music.

First-time OS acts 3Day Trial, Armada, PPF Allstars, and Xeven Thursday gave the crowd a glimpse of things to come as they wowed everyone with great renditions of thier favorite Japanese and Filipino songs. Not to be outdone, OS regulars Do 'Ahou, Ethereal Anthem, Free Beer, Himitsu Heiki, NEOtaku, New Fallen Snow, Progeny, Rotschreck, tRANCE, and Yumbuh! collectively brought the house down around their three hundred cheering fans.

The fab Pinoy music isn't the only reason why this gig is different. Ongaku Fusion is the first gig to welcome our OngakuSociety Preferred Members with exclusive ticket discounts and freebies. This of course prompts many of our regular members to jump into the bandwagon and join the ranks of our pampered Preferred Members.

Ongaku Fusion also marks the first time OngakuSociety has actively supported another non-profit organization in its quest to better the lives of our fellow Filipinos. For this event, OS showed it support for RockEd, a Philippine NGO dedicated to improving the quality of education of the Filipino youth by championing alternative education courses and developing modes of education outside of formal learning institutions.

OS bands and loyal fans likewise showed their support for RockEd by donating books and school supplies to RockEd's library drive.

Still haven't been to your first OS gig? Then you're definitely missing a lot! Grab your mascara, your platform boots, and your eyebrow piercings and head off for the next major OngakuSociety gig! Never let the music die down!
