BUNKEN 101: JICA Seeks Local NGO Coordinator

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) which is an active development partner of the Philippine Government is now seeking the services of a dynamic and competent staff with a high degree of initiative to fill the position of:

Local Coordinator
NGO-JICA Japan Desk

The staff will be working with Japanese and Filipino counterparts and shall be responsible for administrative, logistic and technical support, as well as, coordinating with NGOs, government offices or related agencies in the implementation of programs. For more information about the specific duties required, please refer to the attached Terms of Reference.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a four-year university course
  • With at least one (1) year working experience in NGO, government agency or private companies
  • With at least Level 2 Japanese Language Proficiency
  • Proficient in basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Powerpoint &/or Filemaker)
  • Good interpersonal skills, adaptable and willing to learn

  • NGO-JICA Japan Desk is a scheme of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) whose main objective is to promote the participation of Japanese groups or individuals in implementing international cooperation activities.     TERMS OF REFERENCE

  • a. Answer inquiries to NGO-JICA Japan Desk
  • i. To answer the inquiries from both Japanese and Filipino citizens, Japanese and local NGOs, JICA experts and volunteers, and other donor agencies


  • b. Gathering, accumulation and consolidation of information
  • i. To update the NGO Desk website
  • ii. To update Japanese and Filipino NGO Database of NGO Desk
  • iii. To maintain a network among Small Grants Donor Agencies for the purpose of information sharing and other cooperation activities
  • iv. To create and circulate NGO Desk Newsletter
  • v. To visit Japanese/Filipino NGOs


  • c. Promotion of collaboration projects between JICA and NGO
  • i. To hold consultations and visit the site of the proposed projects under Technical Cooperation for Grassroots Project (TCGP)
  • ii. To facilitate the creation of Minutes of Meeting of projects under TCGP
  • iii. To monitor projects under TCGP


  • d. Strengthen the relationship among Japanese and Local NGOs
  • i. To plan and hold study sessions for the Japanese and Filipino staff of Japanese and Local NGOs in the Philippines


  • e. Exchange of support between Japan’s Civic Organizations and the Philippines
  • i. To give orientation about NGO-JICA Japan Desk and other logistics support to individuals, Japanese NGOs, universities and other civic organizations who visit JICA Philippine office as part of their study tours.


  • f. Others
  • i. To perform other NGO-related tasks as it is deemed necessary
