From Tokyograph: Utada Hikaru will be putting her singing carreer on hiatus. The Japanese singing superstar cited personal reasons for wanting a break. She will, however, release the second volume of her “Best of” album prior to the hiatus, to give fans one last opportunity to savor her music before she leaves the scene.

Hikki — as Hikaru is known by her Japanese fans, has a string of best-selling Japanese singles, which include “Automatic”, “First Love”, “Final Distance”, “Sakura Drops”, “Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro”, “Hikari”, and “Passion” — among others. Hikaru also has a mildly successful dance and R&B music career in the United States.
